The Florida Partnership for Healthy Schools (FPHS), in cooperation with the Florida Association of District School Superintendents, Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, and Florida School Health Association currently recognizes 49 districts for establishing a culture and climate in which students and staff can reach their personal potential. The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) strategies these districts embrace support academic achievement by reducing and eliminating barriers to learning.
Recognition is determined by submission of the Florida Healthy School District Self-Assessment. The self-assessment tool is based on sustainable infrastructure, policy, programs, and practices identified from national and state guidelines, best practices, and Florida statutes. The assessment was developed out of a desire by the FPHS to recognize and celebrate the hard work and success of school districts related to physical, mental and social health of students and staff. Members of the sponsoring organizations present the recognition award at each district’s school board meeting.
The application period for the Florida Healthy School District Award is now open. Applications are due April 15, 2020 at the close of business. Additional information can be found on the Healthy District Assessment page.
